Cyclonic storm ‘Mandus’ has become more dangerous. Amid warnings of heavy rains, it has been decided to keep schools and colleges closed in many cities. This cyclone can wreak havoc on many cities of South India. Know where educational institutions will remain closed. The storm is expected to hit the Chennai coast on December 9. Due to this, heavy rain has been warned in many areas of Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department estimates that this storm can take a dangerous form in the next 48 hours. Tamil Nadu government said that 12 teams of NDRF and state security forces have been deployed in 10 districts.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal has now turned into a deep pressure. Cyclonic storm Mandus about 420 km ESE of Karaikal intensified by yesterday evening. The storm is likely to affect North Tamil Nadu, South Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry and Sriharikota around Mahabalipuram from around midnight of 09 December.
Based on the forecast of heavy rains and cyclonic storm ‘Mandus’ in South India, it has been decided to keep all schools and colleges in Chennai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kancheepuram closed on 9th December 2022. The weather has been wreaking havoc in these cities for the last several days, the general life has become busy. Keeping in view the safety of the students, a holiday has been declared in schools and colleges.
Earlier, schools in Tiruvarur district were closed on December 5 in view of “Kanduri (sandalwood pot) vizha” at Muthupet Dargah. Schools were closed in Tiruvarur, Thanjavur districts of Tamil Nadu on 7 December. Schools were closed in many districts on 08 December as well. Now today on 9th December also the holiday of the students has been announced.
