Atiq Ahmed, a former criminal turned politician, and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf were killed by three assailants on Saturday in Prayagraj. While being accompanied by around a dozen police officers on April 15 night for a normal medical examination. The 62-year-old former Samajwadi Party MP was assassinated a few hours after his son Asad Ahmed, who had died two days prior in a police encounter in Jhansi, had received his final rites.
