As many as 1,073 cases related to credit card or online fraud were registered in which 16 people were arrested. Besides, 1,141 cases of cheating were registered in which 41 people were arrested. Seven cases of computer source code tampering, 31 cases of phishing or spoofing mail, 22 cases of pornography, 46 cases of hacking, 66 cases of gift fraud and 154 cases of horse trading were registered.
85 cases of Job Fraud, 16 Insurance Fraud, 4 Admission Fraud, 47 Fake Website, 27 Matrimonial Fraud, 16 Crypto Currency Fraud, 96 Loan Fraud, 143 Data Theft, 65 Sextortion among other cases were registered by Cyber.
Recently foreigners were caught in job fraud
Recently, the cyber branch of Mumbai Police had caught 4 such accused, who used to do job fraud with people. These four accused are from different countries. One of the accused is from Zambia, two female accused are from Uganda and Namibia and the fourth accused is from Ghana. Pune Cyber DCP Balsingh Rajput told that they used to ask people for visa to go to US and money to give them jobs there. He had taken Rs 26 lakh from the complainant of this case. They used bank accounts, mail IDs and numbers in other’s name. They were involved in job fraud with 2 lakh people and fraud with more than 1 lakh people in a different way. He was caught from Pune on 22nd and is now in police custody. DCP said- “We have come to know that he has cheated in other places also, we are finding out.”
